Boge Revolution

The Boge Revolution is a departure from the usual e-cig design, being neither a tube nor a box. In fact, the Revolution may very well be the first attempt by Chinese manufacturers to design an “electronic smoking machine”, rather than simply take an existing concept and copy / improve it or try and make something that looks like a cigarette.

The video below was taken after about 24 hours of using the Revolution, and now, after a further 48 hours my feelings haven’t changed much at all. I did however fail to mention one thing in the video that deserves more exposure and that is the package labelling.

The Revolution’s packaging is the first I’ve seen with any e-cig that wouldn’t look out of place on a shelf in a high street shop, alongside the mp3 players or mobile phones. In addition to the plastic window that allows you to see the device inside, there is a contents listing, a health warning, and a statement that the device is not a “smoking cessation” product. There’s even a series of logos and quality symbols displayed, including a “Dekang Inside” logo!

Together with the equally well translated English manual inside, this looks like a product that is intended to be a mainstream, retail product and may well influence what follows it.

The Boge Revolution falls short in performance compared to the Tornado, eGo, Riva type mass produced e-cigs around, primarily because of the lack of options (no LR for example). However, I can see it being very popular to a certain market, provided that the cost and atomiser life are well balanced.

I’ll try to update this review if and when things change, but please feel free to post comments and ask questions.
